Managing multiple websites can be expensive and difficult, which is why there are hosting packages that offer multiple domain hosting options. When choosing multiple domain hosting, some of the things you should look out for include:

  • Easy addon domain management from cPanel

  • Unlimited email accounts

  • The ability to add multiple IP addresses

  • Adding a subdomain to an existing domain name

  • A beginner-friendly option such as cPanel

  • Domain alias for having multiple URLs point to a single website

  • Free or paid SSL certificate

  • Parked domain management

Running several websites with Hostkicker can be done in two ways. This can either be done through reseller hosting by separating the websites in different cPanel accounts or in a single shared hosting account.

On Reseller Hosting

You have the Web Hosting Manager, or WHM, on reseller hosting. The Web Hosting manager allows you to create several independent cPanel accounts.

The List Accounts function can be used in order to log in and display each cPanel account. You will need to press the orange CP button in order to log in. In addition, you can modify how many Addon or Parked Domains you have on this account from the plus (+) sign next to the account, as well as other resources.

On Shared Hosting

cPanel has two options for additional domains: addon domains and parked domains or aliases.

Additional domains are pointed to external folders with addon domains. By default, your main domain runs from the public_html folder. Addon domains can run from folders such as new domain or public_html/newdomain. We recommend that you use a reseller account to manage numerous sites as a substitute to addon domains, in case your sites are functionally independent, you have a large number of sites to run, and you’re able to afford it.

A drawback of cPanel addon domains is that each site runs under the same users on the server, which means that one account is able to access all the website files. As a result, any security vulnerabilities that are found on one site can also affect others as well. Another thing is that all of the sites will be using the resources of one account, while in separate accounts, they will have an abundance of resources to use.

Parked domains allow you to add an additional domain as an alias of your main domain to your control panel. For instance, you might want to add both a .net. and .com domain, but have them both point to the same website. You can easily do this by adding the extra domain as a parked domain.

Keep in mind that you should redirect one domain to the other domain in order to avoid penalties by search engines such as google for duplicated content. Usually, this is done automatically by most software. However, you can do this by clicking on Manage Redirection after you add the parked domain.
